A Special Prayer for Our Troops

DENVER, Co, May 16, 2007...A special prayer for the troops and the families of those serving overseas is now available on the Redemptorist/Denver Province website (www.redemptorists-denver.org).

The "E-card" combines the original image of Our Mother of Perpetual Help with the special Redemptorist prayer recited by Redemptorists worldwide. Pope Pius IX in 1866 commissioned the Redemptorists to "make her known throughout the world" under this title:

Mother of Perpetual Help,
I come to you today as your loving child.
Watch over me and take care of me. As you held the child
Jesus in your loving arms, so take me in your arms.
Be a mother ready at every moment to help me.

This miraculous image of Our Mother, whose origins date back to 1498, is venerated today by millions of pilgrims at the Church of St. Alphonsus Liguori in Rome, Italy.
