Redemptorist Formation House to Relocate to New York
Neumann House Students to Join Baltimore Province Seminarians
DENVER, CO, May 1, 2007...St. John Neumann House in St. Louis, MO, the pre-novitiate and philosophy studies house for the Redemptorists of the Denver Province, will be relocating to the St. Alphonsus Formation Residence in Whitestone, New York in the fall of 2007. Its undergraduate students and pre-novitiate candidates, of which there are six today, will join the Redemptorist seminarians of the Baltimore Province and study together at St. John's University in Queens, New York.
A Mass with a reception to follow will be held Friday, May 11th at 5:00 p.m. at St. John Neumann House to mark the event. The Very Rev. Thomas D. Picton, C.Ss.R., provincial superior of the Denver Province, will celebrate the Mass. St. John Neumann House is located at 3737 Washington Blvd. in St. Louis. Its telephone number is (314) 531-2777.
"We're sad about leaving St. Louis University," said Fr. Picton. "The university, especially through Fr. Garth Hallet, S.J., the dean of the School of Philosophy and Letters, has always been very helpful. We are very pleased with the education that our students have received over the years.
"But we leave knowing the Redemptorists in St. Louis will be well represented by our community at the "Rock" Church, Liguori Publications, and by our sister order, the Redemptoristines, in Liguori, MO.
"The move will also allow us to demonstrate responsible stewardship by consolidating and combining resources whenever and wherever possible," Fr. Picton added.

The Redemptorists are a religious congregation of Catholic priests and Brothers founded in southern Italy in 1732 by St. Alphonsus Liguori, C.Ss.R., a doctor of the Church and one of her greatest saints. Redemptorists around the world celebrate this year the 275th anniversary of their founding. |
