The Denver Province was established in June of 1996 when the former St. Louis, Mo., and Oakland, Calif., provinces were merged.
Denver was selected as the site for provincial headquarters because of its central location to both former provinces. The Denver Province covers most of the continental United States as well as parts of Nigeria, Africa; Thailand; and the Amazon Valley of Brazil. It is made up of communities, parishes, retreats, Liguori Publishing (which publishes the Liguorian magazine), and the St. Clement Health Care Center in Liguori, MO, just south of St. Louis. Roughly 300 Redemptorist priests and Brothers from the Denver Province live and work among the poor and most abandoned in these areas of the world. In 2005, the New Orleans Vice-Province was added to the Denver Province, making it the largest province within the worldwide Congregation.
