Ron Mysliwiec
Many of you probably remember Ron Mysliwiec; he attended the Redemptorist High School seminary in Edgerton, Wisconsin, the novitiate in De Soto, Missouri, and the theology school in Oconomowoc in Wisconsin. In the seminary, Ron was a diligent student and a gifted musician. He was dedicated to the prayer life and the community life in the seminary. In the fall of 1967, Ron decided to pursue another path. He left the theology school with a determined conviction to continue his baptismal call by serving God through his people. Shortly after leaving Oconomowoc, Ron interviewed for the position of music teacher at St. Christopher's school. He was hired on condition that he direct school musicals and start a choir. His students learned music and performed in theatrical productions. Ron had a reputation for being an excellent teacher and principal who enriched the lives of everyone who met him. His choir became an integral part of the liturgical worship at St. Christopher's and received notoriety when they would sing in other churches, especially when they traveled internationally. While teaching, Ron continued his education at the University of Detroit and earned a Master of Arts degree in education. Those who lived and worked with Ron remember his generosity. For four years he not only taught class but served as principal at the same time, and for the same salary. His sacrifice enabled other teachers to receive raises. When the choir would have a fundraiser, 10% of the proceeds would automatically go to the missions. When he received a Christmas gift, 10% of that would also go the missions. When a student had difficulty paying tuition, Ron would go out of his way to make sure the student received aid so he/she could stay in school. Even in death, he gave the most charitable gift of himself when he decided to donate his body to medical science. Ron entered eternal life on December 2, 2006. The Redemptorist family remembers Ron in the generous ways he served God's people. We pray that he is already admitted into the full joy of the risen Redeemer. We believe that Ron will be a good advocate in Heaven for all of us.
