Nigeria

The Redemptorists established their mission in Nigeria in 1987, to reach out to the poor and most abandoned in one of the most impoverished nations in the world. Today, there are 40 Redemptorist priests, Brothers and 80 seminarians ministering in the cities of Ibadan (e-BA-den) and Lagos. These Redemptorists care for eight parishes and two seminaries. Of the hundreds of Nigerian men who apply every year to the Redemptorist seminary program, only 12 are accepted. The resources do not exist to provide for more than 12 new students at a time.
