St. Alphonsus Liguori, C. Ss. R., Founder of the Redemptorists, doctor of the church, bishop, patron saint of confessors and moral theologians, canon lawyer, musician, lawyer, architect, poet, and prolific author of over 100 books. The Redemptorists The Redemptorists have a special relationship with Our Mother of Perpetual Help. In 1871, Pope Pius IX commanded the Redemptorists to ‘make Our Mother of Perpetual Help known throughout the world.’ Her miraculous picture is enshrined today in the St. Alphonsus Liguori Church in Rome, Italy.
